One of My Photos Was Published

So, over the last couple of weeks, I’ve been sending my photos out to local news agencies, the tourism office, and various other places in hopes that they would use them.

I love the warm and fuzzy feeling that I get seeing my name in print. This time around, I wasn’t asking anything for my work, as I want to keep doing photography as a hobby, and I didn’t have high hopes that any of my shots would get publicized in any way, but then, I had this weird feeling opening the St. Lawrence EMC, and on page 16, there was the photo that I captured of the recent hydroplane flip.

It definitely was the brightest spot of my day, and it is some real validation that I can capture some worthwhile shots.

  1. Dude that is awesome congrats, now stop being so down on your photos because there amazing and were always looking to see if you have added new pictures. Keep up the good work bro.

    • Thanks, I appreciate it. It definitely helps. I’ve spent thousands on this hobby, and I’m potentially committing more money to it, so I just want to create the best photographs that I can so looking back, it doesn’t feel like a waste.

Right now, the over 10,000 pictures I’ve taken to get to the point where I could take something worth publishing makes it all worthwhile. 🙂

      • pictures with crashes have a higher publish rate than artistic ones doesn’t mean that there not great just there not as sought after. because i’m sure out of all those pictures there is probably at least one person in the world that would like one of them

    • No compensation this time around. It was more about me seeing if my picture was worth publishing. They let me know they were interested, and wanted to know how to get a file in a size they could use for publishing, but I never heard anything beyond that about if or when it would be used (and it has been 2 weeks).

      Not that I’m complaining. 🙂

  2. That was a great pic and really cool to see your name in print…Congrats. I think you have a great ‘eye’ for form and colour and your shots are really creative…if you’re looking for more fame and fortune, maybe time to give up boats and flowers and go after the movie stars 😉 hmmm…Peralty Paparazzi Inc. – it has a certain flair, don’t ya think LOL
