In a recent post (Authoring a DVD That Works), I was having issues creating a DVD for a co-worker, and as usual, my copy of Nero saved the day. I didn’t even notice the option to burn a movie DVD, and what’s even better is that the software can transcode AVI files, so I just had to wait patiently for it to do its task, and now she has the episodes she needs of her show and can watch it on her television.
I hope I don’t ever have to do that again, as my computer didn’t let me do much with it while it was working away, and each episode took as much as an hour and a half to transcode and burn. People should either own DVD players that support a wide range of file types, or only watch things on their computer, where it can support many different codecs.
