To answer that in a bit more detail, I should say that I keep an eye on what is happening in the space of depression treatments and I would love to help move advancements forward.
I’ve been on and off treatment for nearly two decades now, and have found the SSRI’s and SNRI’s typically prescribed to have all kinds of interesting and frustrating issues.
With my anxiety and depression, I sometimes feel like I’m cursed or being beat up, and just can’t fight anymore. Typically that’s when I seek assistance from prescription medication which then takes approximately three to six weeks to really work for me, and during that time, things are pretty horrible.
There have been studies done into alternative methods of managing depression and I just wanted to post and say that if any doctor in Ontario wants to trial a potential treatment course on me, I’d definitely be up for it.
Esketamine or Rapastinel both sound very interesting at alleviating symptoms fairly immediately. GABA-NAMs also seem to have promise when it comes to helping reduce depression symptoms rapidly. These are the kinds of advancements we need, and I’d love to be part of helping move that research forward if at all possible.
