Cars, Cameras and Computer

So, as many of you know, I’m planning on getting rid of my car. Friends of mine have decided to take it off my hands, and so I hope to get it to them before the end of May. From then on, I’ll be taking a cab to work once a week, and walking to the office one day a week. The rest of the time, I’ll be working from home. I am looking forward to it all, but I definitely need to make my room a nicer place to work in, rather than just a place I play video games, watch movies and sleep.

I haven’t yet figured out how I’m going to do that. Maybe just removing some things, making it more office like, and professional will help bring things into focus better.

One of the things that I’ve started to think about is what I can do to make my computer better for work. I haven’t had an upgrade in eighteen months now, and while my machine isn’t long in the tooth by any stretch, I’m definitely getting the itch to build a bigger and better one.

Of course that is also balanced by my interest in photography. I’m considering buying my first L-series lens, an expensive proposition, but it could increase my enjoyment of my hobby and allow me to continue to develop as an amateur photographer.

I can’t do everything that I want this year when it comes to buying things, but getting rid of my car, being able to buy a few things I want, and hopefully making my little corner of this house I live in nicer will help increase my overall happiness as I’m still going through some immense up’s and down’s.

  1. Good to hear from you…I miss your posts 😦
Can’t wait to show Rick your train pics…he’ll be soooo impressed. Happy house cleaning/reorganizing! Sounds like you’ve got a good balance for work life. Maybe if you walk to work both days, you can use the cab fares you save to buy your lens???
