The compensation in the initial job offer ended up being a full five figures lower than my minimum acceptable compensation. I don’t know how or why this turned out this way. I hope it isn’t too wide a gap to close through negotiation, otherwise I’ll be sticking here for a while longer. We are going to talk on the phone about the offer tomorrow at lunch time.

Aw, that sucks. Fingers still crossed that it works out in your favour.
I agree, that is too bad. I was really looking forward to you being a lot closer. But do what is right. Either way I would love to come down some time and either help you move if things work out better, or come up to see where you live.
