I just read a post on Mashable about Lieutenant Colonel Dougie Graham, commander of the 2nd Battalion of the Royal Regiment of Scotland, and his upcoming responsibility to post on Twitter about his experiences. I am very excited that there are armed forces in the world that are starting to understand and allow social media in a more open and interesting way.
I truly believe that a military that allows for an easy connection to the people it is serving is the best way to increase public support for the continued roles that the forces must undertake.
I would love to be over in Afghanistan, acting as a social media/digital press agent for the Canadian Armed Forces. Relaying the experiences, both positive and negative back to Canada for all of the digitally connected people to read and comprehend. To create a dialog that would help those interested have a better understanding of what is being done, and why.
Check out the post on Mashable.
