If there’s one game I’ve been enjoying too much lately, it is MineCraft. If you haven’t seen this game, check out the pictures in my Flickr account. The basic premise of the game is that you wake up, alone with nothing, and you have to start making a shelter and collecting gear because at night the zombies come out. Thankfully, my cousin has been running a server on his computer so he and I, and a few others can play in a single map, co-operatively. While the game is still in Alpha, and has many issues and bugs, it has definitely brought back that feeling of wonderment and awe when you are able to complete a super structure that looks cool or works in an interesting way.
One of the first changes we made to the game was giving ourselves custom skins. I’ve been Captain Picard since then, and Mark has tried a few skins. We also have added a mod to the game that allows us to move through the map quickly, but at the end of the day, it is all about collecting resources and building things, and for someone like me, there’s nothing better. The only issue we’ve been having lately is “what should we build next?”
The game is only around fifteen dollars, so if you have any interest in building things from nothing, I suggest you pick it up.
